About Anne

My Artistic Journey

I'm Anne, the artist behind AnKaDel Art, a self-taught journey that began with a deep love for vibrant cultures, rich traditions, and storytelling through colour.

My artistic path started after marrying my Mexican husband and visiting Mexico for the first time in 2009. Every trip since has filled me with inspiration from the breathtaking ancient ruins to the colourful markets, the deep symbolism of Día de los Muertos, and most of all, the warmth of the people. These experiences moved me to start painting, even without formal training.

In 2016, I picked up my brushes for the first time and began exploring themes close to my heart: catrinas, alebrijes, luchadores, and other vivid elements of Mexican culture.

Since then, my work has grown alongside my life. I’ve painted landscapes from my hometown of Schwerin in Germany, scenes from my travels to India, and now, living in Spain, I'm beginning to introduce Spanish influences into my paintings. Each piece I create is a mix of where I’ve been and what I’ve experienced, a personal map of colours, cultures, and stories.

Thank you for joining me on this creative journey. I hope my art brings you a little joy, curiosity, and connection, just as creating it brings me.
