“La Chulapa” is my colorful and calm interpretation of one of Madrid’s most iconic figures.

With her eyes closed and a peaceful expression, she feels both strong and soft at the same time. The traditional look white headscarf, floral dress, and red carnation, connects to the spirit of Madrid, especially during festivals like San Isidro Festival.

The bright red background gives the painting warmth and energy, while the simple shapes and soft lines keep it light and modern. I wanted to capture not only the traditional outfit, but also a quiet moment, almost like she is dreaming.
